Rita Blitt (American, b. 1931) is an internationally recognized painter, sculptor, and filmmaker celebrated for her flowing, calligraphic lines and expressive celebration of movement and joy. Based in Kansas City, Blitt’s work spans large-scale sculpture, lyrical paintings, and kinetic film collaborations with dancers and musicians. Her art is represented in major public and private collections worldwide, and she is the namesake of the Rita Blitt Gallery and Sculpture Garden at Washburn University’s Mulvane Art Museum.
