1. William H. Seward’s Travels Around the World.

Edited by Olive Risley Seward.

New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1873.

First edition of the posthumous travel account of William H. Seward, former Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln, detailing his diplomatic world tour in 1870–71. Lavishly illustrated, gilt-decorated royal blue cloth binding. Includes personal gift inscription dated 1880. NO front piece or map.

 

2. Report of an Expedition Down the Zuni and Colorado Rivers by Captain L. Sitgreaves.

Washington: Robert Armstrong, Public Printer, 1853.

Senate Executive Document No. 59, 32d Congress, 2d Session. This landmark government report documents the Sitgreaves expedition through the Southwest, richly accompanied by maps, views, and sketches (not all present). A key volume in early Western exploration.

 

3. First Explorers of North America; or Discoveries and Adventures in the New World by Joseph Banvard.

Boston: D. Lothrop & Co., 1874.

Part of the “Library of Adventure" series, this volume presents popularized accounts of early American exploration intended for a broad 19th-century audience. Illustrated frontispiece and gilt-stamped green cloth binding.

Condition

1. Good. Wear to cloth extremities, hinges starting, scattered foxing/staining internally, but complete.

2. Fair. Heavy edge wear and water staining throughout; binding is intact. Reading/research copy with historical importance.

3. Good-. Water staining to preliminaries, general wear to covers, but intact and fully legible.
