A rare and historically significant edition of The Four Gospels, featuring masterful wood engravings by renowned artist Hans Alexander Mueller. This volume is one of only five artist’s copies from a limited edition of 980, not issued for public sale, and is personally inscribed by Mueller to George Macy, founder of the Limited Editions Club and Heritage Press:

 

“To George Macy from Hans A. Mueller – Christmas 1947"

 

Printed on fine laid paper with exquisite typography and richly detailed wood engravings, this edition exemplifies the craftsmanship of mid-20th century American fine press publishing.

Condition

Very good. Some wear to the slipcase corners and edges. Interior pages are clean, with no foxing or marks beyond the artist’s signed inscription. See pictures.

Item pickup is Wednesday, June 4th from 1-7pm in Kansas City, MO. Winning bidders will need to sign up for a pickup appointment time. Winning bidders will receive the full address on their invoice.
