An important early 19th-century reference work: A Gazetteer of the State of New Jersey by Thomas F. Gordon, published in 1834 by Daniel Fenton in Trenton. This comprehensive volume offers a topographical and statistical account of New Jersey’s counties, towns, villages, canals, and railroads, along with a general view of the state's physical and moral condition. Includes the original hand-colored fold-out map (part of it is torn and missing), often lacking in surviving copies.
Good for age and use. Bound in full period leather with gilt rules and a black leather spine label (worn and partially perished). Moderate foxing and toning throughout, with edge wear consistent with age. Map is intact but torn and part missing, what is intact is in very good condition for its age, with rich original coloring. See photos for more details.
