Artist, Uwe Dost created this turned wood bowl/vase which is signed and numbered #382. This vessel is crafted from Norfolk Island pine, featuring a wide, low-profile form with a narrow neck. Rich natural grain with contrasting dark figuring and knots throughout. Neck is wrapped with a woven fiber accent band.
Uwe Dost - Wood Lathe Artist, was a first place winner in the HIFA WoodShow in 2000. "The exquisite grain of native Hawaiian woods has become the focus of Uwe's work. Initially working with koa, milo and mango, he soon discovered the awesome beauty revealed in Hawaii's Norfolk Island Pine and Cook Pine. As these woods age, a process known as 'spalting' develops intricate pattern of changing colors, almost rich enough to taste. From these special woods, Uwe's skilled hands created calabashes, urns, vases and plates, that display and further magnify their beauty. UA MAU KE EA O KA 'AINA I KA PONO (The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness)."
Comes with Certificate of Authenticity: certifies that vessel No. 382 was created at Dost Studio by Uwe Dost/Natalia Dost; signed by artist; dated 2/19/05.
