A pair of faux elephant tusks consisting of tessellated tiles of ox bone, each elaborately carved in low relief with vignettes of dragons pursuing the flaming pearl of wisdom. Chinese, circa 20th century.
Dimensions: 32” H x 6” W x 5” D.
Condition
Good, visible wear consistent with average use. Both horns are loose at the base but remain upright and stable when positioned; movement is present and repair or stabilization may be desired. Light surface wear throughout, including minor edge wear, handling marks, and age-related discoloration to the carved surfaces and bases. No major cracks observed to the horns themselves. Item pickup for St. Louis residents is Tuesday, March 3rd from 9am to 6pm in St Louis, MO 63128. Item pickup for Kansas City residents is Friday, March 6th from 12pm to 6pm in Shawnee, KS 66203. Winning bidders will need to sign up for a pickup appointment time. Winning bidders will receive the full address on their invoice. Brown Button contracts with a third party mover to provide a delivery option for our bidders. Delivery is available within 25 miles of the sale location. Bidders will need to submit a delivery request form using the delivery link emailed with their invoice.
