Framed mixed media textile collage by artist, Meiling, featuring a miniature Aloha shirt constructed from patterned fabric panels. Presented in a bamboo-style frame with layered matting. Verso includes artist information sheet and plaque reading, "About the Aloha Shirt: in the late 1920's, the Aloha Shirt was first worn by the young men of Hawaii. It was then simply called the "Hawaiian Shirt". In the 1930's, the name "Aloha Shirt" came into use. Its colorful prints and cool, comfortable style and the Aloha Shirt popular among both locals and island visitors. By the end of the 1940's, the Aloha Shirt could be seen all around the world.
"About the Artist: Meiling was born on the island of Taiwan. In 1971, she arrived in Honolulu for hotel management training and soon fell in love with the beauty and cultures of her new island home. Meiling has mastered many arts, including water color and oil painting, stained glass, Hawaiian Quilt designs and stitchery. Handmade in Hawaii by Meiling."
