A ‘Luka’ is a bamboo tube used by the Mangyan people of the Mindoro Island in the Philippines. These tubes were originally inscribed using pre colonial indigenous syllabic scripts of Ambahan poems. This pair features pictographs rather than poetry. They were also used as storage vessels, for tobacco, for example. Dimensions: 7.5" H x 2.5" diameter each.

Condition

Fair condition for age and use. There are some signs of wear throughout and there is a large crack and a hole on one and several small cracks on the lid of the other. See photos for more details.
