This silk area rug was purchased during worldly travels to China. It features a central medallion surrounded by a complex field of floral and curvilinear motifs. The intricate vine and blossom work throughout the field is highly detailed, reflecting the precision of silk weaving. The wide border has multiple guard stripes, decorated with scrolling floral and palmette patterns, giving it an ornate frame. The palette is rich and muted, with a dark navy base and accents of dark red, pink, beige, ivory, sage green and brown with subtle highlights that shimmer due to the silk fibers. Dimensions: 9’ W  x 12’ 4” L (including the fringe). Original retail $14K.
