This bronze sculpture by artist James Brock features a female figure (possibly indigenous) using a grinding stone. It is signed James Brock 68 and numbered 3/36. The sculpture is mounted on a round wooden base and was made in his Taos Foundry Studio. Dimensions: 7" H x 9.75" diameter.
James Brock is a contemporary American sculptor best known for his evocative bronze works that often depict Western scenes, animals, and figures. He has studios in Cameron, Texas and Taos, New Mexico. He primarily employs the lost-wax (cire-perdue) casting method, allowing for finely detailed bronze patinas and textures.
