This vintage sculpture from the Austin Sculpture Collection by artist J.P. Renard is titled "Arising" and is crafted from cast metal. Dimensions: 7.25" H x 17.25" W x 7.5" D. Born in 1940 in Avignon, France and educated in Italy, Mr. Renard has been influenced by the work of Umberto Boccioni. This influence can best be seen in the simple curves and flowing form that characterizes Renard's work. Mr. Renard describes his work as essentialism - an attempt to strip away distractions so that the eye can appreciate the essential lines of the piece. To further enhance the lines, Mr. Renard pays particular attention to texture, surface treatment and the natural qualities of different materials.
