David Plank
(Missouri, b. 1934)
Yellow-Bellied Cuckoo, c. 1996
Watercolor on paper
Signed and dated in the lower right corner by the artist. Taped on the reverse is a handwritten note by Plank. It reads:
"This painting of a yellow-bellied cuckoo (a bird which nests in Dent County) is a result of field sketches I did at Montreal(?), and at my place 1/2 mile down the road from Dorncon(SP) and Maxine Steadman. I grew up knowing that bird as a "Rain Crow." The painting is done in watercolor, on acid-free, raw watercolor paper.
David Plank, Nov 25, 2006"
