Large archival set housed in a blue case with brass-handled drawers. This set, issued mid-20th century for university and museum study programs, includes hundreds of labeled photographic slides documenting American art from the 17th through the 20th centuries. Three of the drawers contain slides categorized by artist or movement, with labels such as “1960s-1980s,” “1940s-1950s,” and more. An unusual and comprehensive archive, both a scholarly reference and a collectible artifact of mid-century educational design. Dimensions: 9” H x 10.75” W x 11” D; Drawers: 2.5” H x 5” W x 9.5” D.
Fair with visible signs of wear, paint staining on the front top left corner, and fading to the outer cover commensurate with age. Drawers all functional but left middle drawer has detached slightly from track over time making it trickier to close shut. Back piece of outer cover is missing stitches on the left side causing it to pull away from the rest of the body. Oxidation present on the latch typical of age. See photos for more details.
